DISASTER PLAN

Paranaque City, being part of the NCR region, has a flat landscape. Its flat landscape gives it a tropical climate like the other cities of NCR. Its flat landscape also gives way for urbanization and industrial activity, such as construction of buildings, to occur in its area.

Residents living in the city is a highly urban environment. Its location makes its coasts prone to high floods during storms and the rainy season. Canals branching from Manila bay makes certain areas in the middle of the city prone to high floods as well. Those that don't reside near the canals or coasts experience only moderate floods. The bays are located in the east and west of the city. It is advised to stay away from the eastern and western parts of the city during storms. Residents should be transferred to the middle of the city before the storm occurs to avoid the increase of death rates. If ever miscalculations occur in PAGASA and a storm occurs early, more evacuation centers should be constructed near the coastal areas rather than in the middle of the city in order to attend to more flood victims.

In case of a storm, all citizens who decide to stay near the coastal areas should be equipped with rubber boats (use of this to only extreme levels of floods), flashlights, canned food, bottled water, medicine, and clothing. Those residing in the middle of the city are advised to stay indoors and be equipped with a generator, canned food, bottled water, flashlight, radio, and clothing. It is advised not to swim in the flood in order to prevent leptospirosis infection. It is advised to tune into news radio stations in order to be alerted of the storm's current status. Residents should stock up on at least 10-20 cans of foods, depending on how the storm shall occur. Residents are advised to wear raincoats and boots in order to prevent sicknesses such as colds.
